Tracking Tokens for Landing URLs

When you add a Creative or edit a Creative Group, you can include tracking tokens in the Landing URL field. Their purpose is to let you connect what happens on Sevio (a click, a campaign, a device) with what happens on your own website or analytics platform, without having to build a separate link for every ad item.

Tracking tokens are placeholders that the Sevio Ad Server automatically replaces with real, click-specific values the moment a user clicks your ad, so you can pass campaign, placement, and device details straight through to your own tracking or analytics platform.

In simple terms, a tracking token is a fill-in-the-blank spot in your URL. You write the blank once, and Sevio fills it in slightly differently with each click.

TIP. You don't need to remember this article's URL: a "Tracking Tokens" link is shown right next to the Landing URL field whenever you add a new Creative or edit a Creative Group, and it brings you straight back here.

How to Use Tracking Tokens

Add tracking tokens as query parameter values in your Landing URL, using curly braces exactly as shown below:

https://example.com/landing?campaign={campaign}&country={country}&clickid={clickid}

When a user in Canada clicks this ad, Sevio resolves the URL to something like:

https://example.com/landing?campaign=48213&country=CA&clickid=a93f7d2e

When a user clicks the ad, Sevio replaces each token in the Landing URL with the corresponding value before redirecting the user to your website. Tokens are not replaced when the ad is served or displayed.

You can use as many or as few tokens as you need; any token you leave out of the Landing URL simply won't be passed along.

Available Tokens

Token Resolves to
{inventory} Inventory ID
{domain} Domain name where the ad is served
{zone} Zone ID
{size} Banner size
{campaign} Campaign ID
{aditem} Ad item ID
{asset} Asset ID
{creative} Creative ID
{country} ISO-2 country code
{browser} Browser name
{system} Operating system
{ua} Full user agent string
{timestamp} Click timestamp
{clickid} Sevio click ID

{clickid} resolves to the unique identifier assigned by Sevio to the ad click. Include it in your Landing URL when your conversion-tracking setup uses the click ID to associate subsequent conversions with the original click.

Notes

  • Tokens are case-sensitive and must match the exact syntax shown above: curly braces, lowercase.
  • Any token left out of your Landing URL simply won't be passed. There's no requirement to use all of them.
  • Tokens are replaced by the Ad Server directly in the Creative Group's (asset's) Landing URL, so they'll work the same way whether you set them on a single Creative or on the whole Creative Group.
