How to Set Up a CNAME in Sevio: Step-by-Step Guide for Publishers

CNAME records help you display your Sevio selling page under your own domain (e.g. advertise.yourdomain.com).

This guide will walk you through setting up your Sevio subdomain and adding a CNAME record using Cloudflare.

How to Set Up a CNAME Record and Connect It to Sevio

Before configuring your DNS settings, you'll need Sevio's target address. Here's how to connect your domain inside your Sevio dashboard:

Step 1. Log In and Go to the Selling Pages Tab

Log in to your Sevio account and navigate to the Selling Pages tab. Once there, navigate to the workspace or project where you want to apply the custom domain.

Click on the Visibility button on the page you want to connect to a custom domain.

In the Page Visibility popup, enter your subdomain name (e.g. yourdomain.sevio.me). Then, enter your custom domain in the CNAME field (e.g. advertise.domain.com) and click Save.

Step 3. Log in to Cloudflare

Go to cloudflare.com and sign in using your credentials.

From your dashboard, choose the domain where you want to add the CNAME record. This should be the root domain tied to your subdomain (e.g., domain.com).

Step 4. Add a New DNS Record

Click on the "DNS" tab in the top navigation bar to open the DNS management panel for your domain.

Click the "Add record" button to create a new DNS entry.

Step 5. Fill in the CNAME Record Details

Use the following values:

  • Type: CNAME
  • Name: advertise (or any subdomain you plan to use, e.g., promo, sales, etc.)
  • Target: Your Sevio subdomain; e.g., yourdomain.sevio.me (Sevio will provide this URL, which represents the backend address of your white-labeled page)
  • Proxy status: DNS only (Important: Make sure Cloudflare's proxy is disabled. The proxy icon should appear grey, not orange.)

Once you've completed these, click "Save" to finalize your changes. Your CNAME record is now active.

FAQ

What is a CNAME record?

A CNAME (Canonical Name) record is a DNS entry that maps a domain or subdomain to another domain instead of an IP address. For example, advertise.domain.com can point to domain.sevio.me, displaying Sevio's content under your custom domain

Is a CNAME record a redirect?

No. Unlike a 301/302 redirect, a CNAME doesn’t change the browser URL. It tells DNS to serve content from another domain while keeping your custom domain visible, which is ideal for white-labeling.

Can I add multiple CNAME records?

For Sevio's white-label feature, you can only assign one CNAME record per selling page. If you want to white-label multiple pages, simply create a separate selling page for each one and point a different subdomain to each (e.g., advertise.yourdomain.com → Page A, promo.yourdomain.com → Page B). Each subdomain must have its own CNAME and connect to a unique selling page.
